FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Fort Worth police now say a suspect who was shot and killed Saturday evening during a standoff, was not holding a gun after all.

Police say they responded to a home off 6th Avenue in regards to a domestic disturbance and when they arrived, 38-year-old Cody Seals pointed a weapon at them before barricading himself in the home.

SWAT officers later arrived and tried to talk him out of the house. It was discovered he had a military background and suffered from PTSD.

Police say Seals soon left the house through the front door and threatened the SWAT officers. Police say one of the SWAT officers then shot Seals thinking he was armed.

Now police say he was holding a flashlight.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The SWAT officer has been with the Fort Worth Police Department for 10 years and was placed on administrative leave.
