FRISCO (1080 KRLD) - A group of North Texas firefighters are headed to the Texas panhandle to help local crews battling a wildfire.

The "294 Fire" in Armstrong and Donley Counties near Amarillo has burned over 11,0000 acres and is about fifty percent contained according to reports.

The Frisco Fire Department has an agreement with other departments through the Texas intra-state Fire Mutual Aid System, so a group of four firefighters and one fire engine are heading to the command post today as part of a strike team that includes firefighters from Wichita Falls and Abilene.

The Frisco crew could be in the Panhandle for up to a week.
