DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Funeral services are scheduled Tuesday morning for former Dallas City Councilwoman Carolyn Davis and her daughter, Melissa Nunn-Davis. The two were killed last Monday when police say someone crossed the center line of East Ledbetter and hit their car head-on.

Hundreds of people attended wakes for the two Monday at Kirkwood Temple Church.

"Carolyn was a very compassionate, considerate person," says Pastor Jerry Christian. "That's the kind of person Carolyn was. She watched out for her daughter, really watched after her."

Davis was elected to Dallas City Council four times, leaving office in 2015.

Dallas police say Jonathan Moore told them he had taken Xanax before the crash. He has now been charged with two counts of murder.

Moore had been convicted of DWI five times before and had just completed a five year sentence of probation the week before the crash.

"It's sad, and I'm furious that we continue to allow these kinds of things to happen," Christian says. "Drunk drivers should be off the street."

Funeral services for Davis and Nunn-Davis are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Inspiring Body of Christ Church near I-20 and Highway 67.
