Governor Approves Naming Road For Richardson Police Officer

RICHARDSON (1080 KRLD) - Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a bill to name a portion of 75 Central Expressway after Richardson Police Officer David Sherrard, who was killed in the line of duty last year. House Bill 540 designates a portion of the road as the "Officer David Sherrard Memorial Highway".

Officer Sherrard was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance at an apartment complex in 2018.

"I am honored to celebrate the memory of Officer Sherrard today, and we will ensure that We can celebrate his life and we can ensure that his name, his sacrifice, and his legacy will forever be remembered," Gov. Abbott said.

House Bill 540 was sponsored by State Representative Jeff Leach. It will take effect September 1.
