GRAND PRAIRIE (1080 KRLD) - The Grand Prairie ISD Board of Trustees has named one of the district's Deputy Superintendents to take over as Interim Superintendent.

Linda Ellis has been with the GP ISD for several years and held a variety of positions, including teacher, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent.

“We will begin working with Ms. Ellis immediately to ensure Grand Prairie ISD is ready for an exciting, productive school year as we welcome back over 29,000 students,” said GPISD Board of Trustees President Burke Hall.

Ellis will take over the vacancy created by the death of Dr. Susan Simpson Hull. She died earlier this month in a motorcycle crash while on vacation in Arizona. Dr. Hull had held the district's top job for 12 years.

The Grand Prairie ISD will conduct a formal search for a new superintendent. The school board has not set a timetable for that search.
