DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Grand Prairie man who beat a 4-year old girl to death two-and-a-half-years ago will never step out of prison again.

36-year old Charles Phifer was found guilty of capital murder for the savage beating death of 4-year old Leiliana Wright.

The jury spent about 2-and-a-half-hours deliberating before returning a verdict that ensures Phifer will never set foot out of prison. For Judge Robert Burns, who called this the worst case he has ever seen, that doesn't seem like enough.

"You did monstrous things to that little girl...and life in prison seems insufficient. The pain of that little girl in a closet is savage. You should die in a locked closet if TDC had it. But they don't have it, unfortunately. Life in prison doesn't seem like enough for you," Burns said.

The girl's mother, Jeri Quezada pleaded guilty for her testimony and a 50-year prison term. Both had been shooting up heroin the night they killed the girl.

The pictures from the autopsy were so severe some jurors were bought to tears.
