Housing Sales Continue To Drop In North Texas

January 15, 2019 - 12:00 pm

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Overall, housing sales continue to drop in North Texas but affordable housing in one county helped it lead the way in sales last month.

More than 2,000 homes were sold in Tarrant County last month according to information from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, and that data suggests it's because it remains an affordable place to live.

The median price for a home in Tarrant County is roughly $233,000 and that's the lowest price of the four major counties.

Despite its affordability, homes sales were down 8.3 percent compared to a year ago.

Collin County remains the priciest place to live and sales there were down nearly 12 percent, that's about the same drop Denton County experienced.

Dallas County's year over year sales were down 10.7 percent, but it had the second most home sales in December with just over 1,900 homes marked sold .

Home prices remain at record levels in North Texas, up over 40 percent in the last 5 years.
