GREENVILLE (1080 KRLD) - A Hunt County teen has a new service dog, one that was needed to alert her when her blood sugar gets too low.

Former Dallas Cowboy Jay Novacek and his wife Amy have donated a dog to Hannah Westmoreland whose original service dog Journey was shot and killed back in January.

Police are still looking for the shooter.

Amy Novacek uses a service dog herself due to a devasting car crash. She and her husband, the former Cowboys tight end, breed service dogs and Amy says when she heard about Hannah's dog being killed she had to do something.

The Novacek's will also train the new dog free of charge.

Hannah has named her new dog Joey. Her first dog, Journey, was purchased after friends and neighbors raised $10,000 so the 15-year-old could get the service dog she needed.
