HURST (KRLD) - A shocking discovery for Hurst Police leads to the arrest of a 28-year-old mother.

Police were called to the back of a Souper Salad off of Melbourne Road on June 15, when a witness called 911 after seeing a woman put "something" in the dumpster.

After a search, police found a baby, who appeared to be in good health.

A woman was walking nearby and police questioned her, then took her as well as the child to the hospital.

Monday police announced they have arrested that woman, Alyssa Baker and have charged her with attempted capital murder. Her bond is set at $50,000.

State law legally allows parents to leave their infant at a hospital or fire station "no questions asked." The closest fire station to the Souper Salad is less than a mile away. The hospital, just a mile and a half.
