I-30 Closure In Arlington All Weekend

ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - If you need to get to Dallas from Fort Worth or vice-versa this weekend, there's one road you will not want to take.

I-30 will be closed in both directions between Collins Street and the Bush Turnpike all weekend long, starting at 7:00 this evening.

"We're removing the state highway 360 frontage road bridge over those main lanes," says Val Lopez with TxDOT, "and we can't have active traffic underneath a bridge demolition operation."

There will be no easy way around the closure.

"Unfortunately because this is an older turnpike configuration that we are modernizing, we don't have a frontage road to detour traffic to," says Lopez.

If you absolutely have to be in the area, the detour is Division St.

Otherwise, there are two better options.

"If you can use an alternate route like I-20 or State Highway 183, you should, because it'll be delayed through there," Lopez says.

This weekend was chosen because the Entertainment District will be dormant.

"This weekend, there's no Rangers, of course, no Cowboys and no Six Flags," says Lopez. "When we have weekends like this, we want to take advantage of it to do some of our heavier work."
