Illegal Immigrant Pleads Guilty To Operating Drug Ring

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The streets of North Texas will have less methamphetamines for sale after an illegal immigrant pleads guilty to helping operate a major drug ring.

For the next 20 years, Javier Contreras Vargas will be a resident of the U.S., staying in a prison. Then the illegal immigrant will be deported.

Vargas was sentenced for his role in a major methamphetamine ring running From Mexico to North Texas.

The feds already had him under surveillance when Dallas Police pulled Vargas over in July of 2015. He had about 5-pounds of meth in the car. Agents then searched Vargas's home and found another 55 pounds of the drug, plus $25,000.

More than 20 others were busted as part of the drug ring.

Two are still awaiting trial.
