IRVING (1080 KRLD) - A motorist is in custody after police say they crashed into the back of another vehicle, and then collided into a telephone pole.

The accident happened around 7 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Valley View Lane and Rock Island Road in Irving. Investigators tell NBC 5 that a pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and struck a second vehicle that was attempting to make a right turn at the intersection.

The truck then crashed into a telephone pole, breaking it in half. Officers found that there was also a two-year-old not wearing a seatbelt in pickup at the time of the crash, but the toddler did not suffer any injuries.

The driver of that pickup was arrested and charged with two counts of intoxication assault and one count of endangering a child.
