Irving SWAT Arrest Suspect After Long Standoff

January 22, 2019 - 6:29 am

IRVING (1080 KRLD) - Irving police arrested a suspect after a stand-off with the SWAT team that lasted several hours.

Police say they observed 44-year-old Jerry Williams Monday afternoon and officers identified him as someone who had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Williams went into a home on Roberts Street. Officers were able to get the other occupants of the building to come out, but Williams refused, and the other people who had been inside the home told officers he was hiding in the attic.

Officers called the Irving Police Department's SWAT team to the scene and they deployed tear gas into the home.

They say Williams was taken into custody and is being held on several charges including a parole violation for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
