Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is going to the hall of fame ... his high's school hall of fame.

Pitman High, in Turlock California, says it will induct Kaepernick and 8 other former student-athletes into the school's hall of fame November 3rd, according to KCRA-TV  in Sacramento.

Kaepernick is currently appearing in a controversial Nike commercial.  He was the first NFL player to take a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality.

Despite the controversy, the school says Kaepernick is being honored for his contributions as a student-athlete.  He played football, basketball and baseball in high school.
