Children taking multiple prescribed medications could be at risk for heart issues.

According to a new study by Chicago's College of Pharmacy, 1 in 12 kids using two or more medications together were at risk for a major drug interaction that could lead to dangerous heart rhythms called arrhythmias which could lead to sudden cardiac death.

At most risk: Teenage girls taking a combination of a long term antidepressant and a shorter term medication like an antibiotic, anti-nausea drug or a non-opioid pain reliever.

Federal survey data of 23,000 people 19 years of age and younger was used for the study.
