LEWISVILLE (KRLD) - Two board members of a Lewisville community theater have resigned, over the decision to knowingly employ a registered sex offender.

Eddie Floresca and Chris Robinson are no longer with the Greater Lewisville Community Theater. Investigators say registered sex offender Kevin Sutton was hired in 2014 as the music director. Sutton had previously been convicted for taking indecent liberties with children. Floresca and Robinson reportedly knew this, but Sutton was hired anyway.

During one show in 2017, several teenage cast members claimed Sutton made inappropriate and sexual remarks about them. He was fired, and then rehired on a show by show basis for the 2017-2018 theater season. He was fired for good this summer.

The Greater Lewisville Community Theater says in a Facebook post they are now doing background checks on all employees. They've also adopted a national program called "Not in Our House”, a movement founded by artists that focuses on a cultural paradigm shift away from turning a blind eye to sexual harassment and bullying in theaters. Instead, the movement focuses on mentoring, prevention and accountability.
