DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Members of the Bush family and old friends of #41 gathered for a celebration in his memory at the Bush Center in Dallas.

Gatherers spent yesterday evening sharing stories and laughs. Those who attended included former President George W Bush, and James Baker, HW’s best friend of 60 years.

Baker served as Chief of Staff and Secretary of State during George HW’s presidency. Baker says no matter the obstacles or opposition they faced, he always felt as though he and the President had each other’s backs.

That friendship and closeness lasted until the final days of George HW’s life. George W Bush entertained the rest of the guests with a story about Baker sneaking a bottle of Grey Goose vodka into HW’s room during a stint in the ICU.

Speaking of his friend, Baker says he is blessed to have had a decades long friendship with George HW Bush.

In another tribute to the president and his wife Barbara, Texas senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz have recently put forward legislation that would create $1 coins in their images.
