MCKINNEY (1080 KRLD) - The severe weather season is off to an expensive start in North Texas.

Initial damage projections are in after the hailstorm that hammered Allen, Frisco, McKinney and other parts of the area Sunday night.

The Insurance Council of Texas' Mark Hanna said, "It's all very preliminary.  This is the day after the storm. So, we're looking at thousands of auto claims.  Everybody has about two vehicles, so you do a little math.  Right now, this storm looks like it could be anywhere between $300 million and $400 million in insured losses."

Homes and vehicles were battered by hailstones as large as baseballs during the fierce storm.

For those who suffered property damage, experts urge you document everything with photos and video, and contact your insurance agent to begin the claims process as soon as possible.
