DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Mail carriers won't just be dropping off on Saturday, they'll be picking up as well.

Saturday is Stamp Out Hunger Day, the day mail carriers collect donated food items.

Stamp Out Hunger is the nation's largest single day food drive and it's been going on for 27 years.

Last year more than 71-million pounds of food were donated. And all the donated food stays local, it goes to local food banks and churches to feed the needy in your own community.

To participate, just fill a bag with food and leave it next to your mailbox where your letter carrier will pick it up Saturday.
