TEXAS (KRLD)- Austin William Price faces 35 years in state prison. He pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Police arrested him in March after his 14 year old stepdaughter told her mother he sexually abused her for years.

Brazos County Assistant District Attorney Kara Comte says, "The victim told the interviewer that the reason she had not told prior to her outcry earlier this year was because at some point he had threatened to hurt her mom and her if she ever told anybody."

Comte says, "If a child outcries to you, believe them. Take the steps that are necessary to protect that child and to investigate those allegations."

Comte says, " So often, we get cases where a child outcries to a parent or a caregiver and they are not believed. That's one of the big reasons kids don't tell because they are afraid no one will believe them. So, when somebody does believe them it validates what they are saying. It encourages them to empower themselves and continue to disclose what has happened to them. Hopefully, that ultimately results in justice for them. "

Meantime, Austin William Price has to serve half of his 35 year prison sentence before being eligible for parole.

At that point, eligibility doesn't mean he gets parole.
