WATAUGA (1080 KRLD) - Watauga Police Lt. Jason Babcock said they received a call from a daughter of the woman who lived at the home in the 6500 block of Wooddale Drive.  "Once we went to the residence, the man confronted officers.  He was in the living room, and he picked up a shotgun and began to aim it toward officers.  The officers then fired upon him," Babcock said.

A short time later, the man was found dead in the home.

Lt. Babcock said Watauga PD was assisted by SWAT officers from the N. Richland Hills Police Dept. "They did a sweep of the residence, and did locate a deceased female in a different portion of the house," he said.

Authorities say the man killed in the incident was the subject of a protective order, and was told to stay away from the home.  Babcock said the relationship between the man and woman is under investigation, and he added, "We've been to that residence recently for calls.  Hence, the protective order that was in place."

The identities of the man and woman have not been released.
