Man Wanted For Southlake Murder Arrested In Mexico

May 24, 2018 - 5:11 am

FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Police in Mexico have arrested a man wanted for a murder that happened in Southlake over five years ago.

Records show Juan Guerrero was shot and killed in 2013 in the parking lot of Southlake Town Square as he and his wife walked out of a store. The FBI linked the shooting to a drug cartel.

Official say Guerrero was an informant and had been the lawyer for the leader of a competing cartel. Three people were convicted in 2016.

But the FBI says some of the suspects involved in the murder fled to Mexico.

Now, mexican authorities have arrested the brother of a cartel leader in Mexico City. The FBI says Ramon Villareal is the financial head of the cartel, but has not said how he was involved in Guerrero's murder.

Villareal may now be extradited to North Texas.
