DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A man wanted for a murder in Terrell has been arrested at the Grand Canyon.

Since May 28th, Terrell Police have been looking for 24-year old Darrius Johnson Jr for a murder.

Officials say 23-year old Billy Gardner was found outside his home in Terrell. He had been shot and died a short time later at a hospital.

On Monday, more than a thousand miles away in the Grand Canyon National park, law enforcement officials caught up with Johnson at a campground, pulled over for a seatbelt violation.

Kirby-Lynn Shedlowski of the National Park Service says Johnson is in the custody of Marshals in Flagstaff and will be sent back to Kaufman County to face trial.
