DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A Dallas man charged with a dozen bank robberies over the span of four months has been sentenced to federal prison.

Although 40-year old Timothy Thomas only pleaded guilty to five robberies, the FBI says he was behind a total of twelve stick-ups.

According to reports, several times, Thomas hit the same bank twice.

The crime spree started October 4th of 2016 and went on for four months before Thomas was nabbed. In each instance, Thomas would give the teller a note claiming he had a gun. He demanded a specific amount of cash and said he wasn't afraid to use his gun if anyone gave him trouble.

Federal Judge Sidney Fitzwater sentenced Thomas to 14 and one half years in federal prison.

Thomas had previously served time for a bank robbery conviction in Chicago.
