HOUSTON (1080 KRLD) - Dozens of people are busted in a marriage fraud scheme in Houston.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Houston says nearly 100 people are facing charges for helping create fake marriages so people could obtain a legal immigration status. The scam artists would charge $50,000 to $70,000 to arrange a fake marriage to someone in the United States.

They would create a fake wedding photo album, too. Investigators say Ashley Yen Nguyen headed the Southwest Houston-based organization and had associates operating throughout Texas and Vietnam.

Attorney Trang Le Nguyen aka Nguyen Le Thien Trang of Pearland is also accused of obstructing and impeding the due administration of justice and tampering with a witness, victim or informant.
