Massive Turnout as Early Voting Ends

November 02, 2018 - 11:23 pm

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - As early voting came to an end Thursday, the number of people who voted early came close to the total number of votes cast in the 2014 midterm election.

According to the Secretary of State's office, 4.3 million early votes had been cast in the state's largest counties which make up 80% of the state. Compare that to the 4.7 million total votes cast in the 2014 midterm elections.

Through Thursday, nearly 1.3 million North Texans have voted early in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties. A number that dwarfs the 548,511 early votes cast in 2014.

Both political parties are claiming that the surge in votes help's their side of the aisle.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6.
