MCKINNEY (1080 KRLD) -  Most of the power is back on in one North Texas neighborhood this morning, but for hours, people living there had to suffer through yesterday's record breaking heat without electricity for fans or air conditioning.

Almost 1500 homes have cool air flowing once again, but homeowners say the last two days have been miserable.

Both days in a row people living near Highway 75 and El Dorado have lost power during the hours of peak heat.

People tell NBC 5 the power went out thursday around 1:00 p.m. and they tried to conserve the cool air by keeping blinds and doors closed.

ONCOR crews worked through yesterday to bring the power back. Officials say two transformers in that neighborhood blew out, and it was due to the added strain on the system.

While ONCOR says they are better prepared to handle this should it happen again, they're recommending people in this neighborhood conserve electricity this afternoon.
