FORT WORTH (KRLD) - It's going to be a very special Halloween night for two kids in the Fort Worth area. Medstar holds a special event each year, to help kids with medical challenges experience trick or treating.

"It's one of the most rewarding events we do each year," says Medstar spokesman Matt Zavadsky. "It's so heartwarming to see the response from these children and their parents, who may not otherwise experience the usual Halloween."

This year, 10-year-old Aaliyah Monsibaiz and 16-year-old Tiy Smith were chosen for the night out. Aaliyah has a brain tumor and has limited mobility. Tiy has cerebral palsy.

This special night of trick or treating starts when Medstar safety officers and EMTs arrive at each child's house to meet them and their families.
"The ambulance is fully decorated, and safety officers are fully dressed up," says Zavadsky. "We bring them to the Pembroke and Berkeley neighborhood, and take them on a stretcher door-to-door to see people and get their treats."

Both the kids will start their trick or treating adventure at 7 p.m. tonight.
