FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - North Texas hit 100 degrees both days this weekend, and the hot weather has kept paramedics busy.

MedStar is the ambulance provider for Fort Worth and says it responded to nearly 13 calls about the heat over the weekend, bringing this summer’s total to 211 for May and June 2018 compared to 131 for May and June 2017.

MedStar has been using its "Extreme Weather Policy." Whenever it feels like 105 degrees or hotter, the ambulance provider responds to calls about the heat at a higher priority to limit the time patients and paramedics will spend outside.
