DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A new study shows men have higher expectations for Valentine's Day.

Many men are disappointed when the woman they love spends on average only $64 on them. The average man plans to spend around $339 on their lady.

Bankrate.com analyst Kelly Anne Smith says, "Younger millennials are most likely to spend money on Valentine's Day. On average, they'll spend around $266. Americans who have been together for less than two years are most likely to spend money on their significant other.  Just 61% of those who have been in their relationship at least 20 years plan to spend money on their partner and 57% expect something in return.

Northeastern couples are the least likely to spend money this Valentine's Day. Just 60% plan to spend on their spouse or partner, and 50% expect spending in return. But, Southerners are much more likely to spend money (74%) and expect their romantic partner to do the same (68%).
