RICHARDSON (1080 KRLD) - Time is running out to apply for emergency financial aid at the American Red Cross Assistance Center in Richardson.

The emergency aid center is scheduled to close Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.

People whose homes were damaged by the tornados this month can apply for $450 in emergency support in person at the center. But Lisa Morgan, communications manager for the Red Cross northeast region, says there's a big difference between damage and major damage.

"Major damage would be losing a roof, or a major structural wall," Morgan said. "That would count as major damage. And of course a total loss is just, a total loss."
The Red Cross has been busy sending crews out to help those in need in the wake of the devastating tornados, and Morgan says volunteers will continue to help even after the DFW assistance centers close their doors. People interested in applying for financial aid can still apply over the phone.

The Red Cross resouce center in Dallas will also close this week at 5:00 p.m. Friday.
