IRVING (1080 KRLD) - The annual North Texas cricket invasion is underway.
While parts of Dallas-Fort Worth are seeing few of the insects, in some neighborhoods they are thick on the ground.
Customers and workers at the Irving Mall are complaining it's really bad.
Doctor Mike Merchant, an entomologist with Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension, says the massive swarms come out this time of year because it's the crickets' mating season.
