DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - With a lot of trees being cut down along White Rock Creek in Dallas, some are wondering why.

The city of Dallas says the trees were damaged by the October tornado and other storms.

A contractor was recently hired to remove what are described as "severely damaged trees"  However, arborist Steve Hauser tells NBC 5 he's concerned the contractor's workers don't know what to look for.

"Unless you are knowledgeable about trees" you won't know if a tree is dead or simply dormant for the winter, according to Hauser.
