ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - Four months after the death of Grand Prairie Police Officer A.J. Castaneda, the fallen hero will be honored Friday night at the Arlington Martin-Arlington High football game at UT-Arlington's Maverick Stadium.

Back in June, Castaneda was struck and killed during a traffic stop on the Bush Turnpike in Grand Prairie. On the day he died, Castaneda was working overtime on a day off to earn extra money for the educational needs of his 11-year-old special needs son.

As part of the tribute to Castaneda, the Martin football team will wear custom jerseys that carry his name on the back. After the game, the jerseys will be sold to raise money for Castaneda's son.

Arlington Martin Head Coach Bob Wager coached Castaneda when he was an assistant at Sam Houston High School. Earlier this year, he spoke at the funeral for his dear friend. Wager talked about Castaneda and Friday's tribute with KRLD's Chris Sommer.

Grand Prairie Police Chief Steve Dye will also participate in tonight's tribute.
