ARLINGTON (KRLD) - Arlington Police are stepping up patrols after a man attempted to abduct a nine-year-old on her way home from her Kennedale school on Tuesday.

Police released a sketch of the suspect later Wednesday.

Authorities say the girl got off the bus on Glen Meadow Drive and a Hispanic man in his 30s called out to her. When the girl ignored him, the man followed her and grabbed her in an attempt to kidnap her.

Thankfully, police say the girl was able to get away.

"She was able to scratch him, break free and ran off," Arlington Lieutenant Christopher Cook told 1080 KRLD.

Police took DNA swabs of her nails in an effort to get information on the would-be abductor's identity.
