FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - The Fort Worth celebrity chef who allegedly assaulted his now-ex-wife has reached an agreement with prosecutors.

Grady Spears is facing a misdemeanor assault charge in connection with an altercation with his then-wife, Wendy Mann-Spears, inside their east Fort Worth home in July of 2018.

"Mr. Spears will agree to participate in a six-month, very in-depth anti-domestic violence program," says Sam Jordan, spokeswoman for the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. "If he completes them successfully, then his case will be dismissed. If he does not complete them successfully, then he could serve up to a year in jail."

Mann-Spears filed for divorce from Spears months after the incident.

Spears was slated to open a restaurant at Crockett Row at West 7th; following the incident, Crockett Row canceled those plans and cut ties with Spears.
