Both the House of Representatives and the Senate have passed the Bush Coin Act.

It directs the Treasury Department to mint commemorative coins honoring former President George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush.

"President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush were examples of selflessness and sacrifice," said Congressman Roger Williams, R-Austin. "And like their country - they were tough, they were strong...and they were kind."

The bill passed this week instructs the Treasury to mint a dollar coin honoring President George H.W. Bush and a gold bullion coin featuring an image of Barbara Bush.

"For those who knew the Bushes, their love for country was only surpassed by their love of each other," said Rep. Williams. "George and Barbara Bush were married for 73 one of the greatest love stories of our time."

The bill now goes to the White House for the President's signature. The coins could be issued later this year.
