AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - A federal appeals court will hear arguments today over the removal of Confederate statues at the University of Texas in Austin.

Confederate Rights groups are suing the University of Texas President Greg Fenves claiming their first amendment rights were violated by the removal of confederate statues from the UT Campus.

President Fenves made the decision to remove the Jefferson Davis statue after the racially motivated mass killing in a South Carolina church.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans filed the suit that will now be heard by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
