DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Easter is traditionally one of the busiest days of the year for Dallas city parks. That is precisely the reason Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has ordered the parks closed, both Saturday and Sunday.

“It’s important that we don’t lose sight of what’s important right now, that’s our health and safety.” Johnson said.  “So this weekend I’m asking you please to stay at home and celebrate with your family.”

The order goes into effect Friday night.  It affects all 397 Dallas parks and golf courses.

City trails are not included in the order, although the mayor says social distancing should be observed.

“I know this is painful,  I know this is difficult, I know this is challenging, I know this is scary, but I promise you this will end and we will, as a city come back from this stronger than ever.” Johnson said.
