DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Dallas mayor is speaking out after sending a letter to the city manager and police chief, demanding a plan to fight the rising homicide rate in the city.

During his state of the city address mayor Eric Johnson says what he is asking for is fair.

"I'm not asking for anything that couldn't be produced in four weeks. I am not asking for anyone to tender their resignation. I am asking for transparency in information so we can tell if the plan is working," Johnson said.

City Manager T.C. Broadnax released a statement saying he will begin working with Police Chief Renee Hall on a plan.

Dallas is on pace to have at least 200 homicides this year. That is the highest rate since 2007.
