DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Officials with the city of Dallas think too many people are too close together on the Katy Trail. So, new rules are being implemented based on your last name.

The Dallas Parks and Rec department thinks there's not enough social distancing on the trail to help stop the potential spread of coronavirus. So, an alphabetical system is now in place for the four busiest days of the week - Thursdays through Sundays.

On Thursdays and Saturdays, you can only use the Katy Trail if your last name begins with the letters A to L.

Everyone else gets to use it on Fridays and Sundays.

Monday to Wednesday - it's free for all.

No one is saying how this is going to be enforced. For example, if spouses or regular jogging or walking partners have names in opposite ends of the alphabet, no one knows if they can they still use the trail together.
