DALLAS (KRLD) - We talk a lot about substance abuse, anxiety, depression and other ailments. But what about celebrating the impact of recovery?

That's the aim of Recovery Night - hosted by the WNBA's Dallas Wings on Wednesday, August 14 at 7 p.m., when they face the Los Angeles Sparks.

It was the brainchild of Wings Account Executive Jordan Baccus, who herself, is living in longterm recovery.

"You don't see what recovery does for people. You don't see the success stories. All we hear about is the epidemic that's going on," said Baccus.

But there's tremendous power in sharing those stories of recovery. The stories can help motivate those not yet in recovery to start their own journeys.

As part of Recovery Night, the Wings will provide "Recovery Zones" where no alcohol will be served. Additionally, organizations and resources that aid in recovery will be highlighted.

"I'm so grateful that the Dallas Wings wanted to back this up. This is something that's never been done before," Baccus said.

Portions of proceeds from every ticket will be put towards a scholarship fund that benefits the Simply Grace Women’s Sober Living Facility, Pride House (part of the Russell Freeman Foundation and the only LGBTQ sober living Facility in Texas) and the M2381 Foundation.
