Denton Police Issue Warning After Apartment Burglaries

DENTON (KRLD) - Denton Police are reminding residents to lock their doors after a string of apartment complex burglaries. There have been nine reported burglaries in the past six days at complexes catering to UNT students. Many of the break-ins have occurred in off-campus student housing near Fort Worth Drive.
"What we're seeing is that...the suspects are going into homes where the front door has been left unlocked. They're taking large electronics from the home and living areas and then they're out the door," said Denton Police Department spokesperson Khristen Jones. "We're advising everyone to keep their doors locked and to stay vigilant and aware of their surroundings."
Police are asking anyone who notices suspicious activity at their apartment complex to report it to 9-1-1.
