DESOTO (KRLD) - DeSoto City Councilwoman Candice Quarles says she will not be stepping down from her position after she was called to resign or face a recall after it was alleged she benefited from her husband's theft of tax dollars.

Jeremiah Quarles plead guilty to pocketing more than $140,000 in public funds while he worked for the city.

However, Quarles said she did nothing wrong.

She says she took a polygraph last year and that she passed every single question about her husband's activities.

Her lawyer Anthony Lyons released the results of the polygraph Thursday where the examiner said, based on the results of the polygraph, she showed no sign of deception.

Quarels says she will work hard to regain the trust of DeSoto residents
