WISE COUNTY (1080 KRLD) - The Wise County Sheriff's Office needs your help in finding whoever mutilated a dog this past fall.

"We're going to do everything we can to try to figure out exactly who perpetrated this bad old deed on this poor, unsuspecting animal," says Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin.

On November 25th, Wise County Animal Control officers were called to County Road 3552 near Paradise.

When they arrived, they found a male Mastiff dog that had been cut in half.

"It hasn't happened often; and when it does, it sets off many alarms and a large amount of concern," says Sheriff Akin.

Investigators have been trying to find the perpetrator, to no avail.

So now, the sheriff's office is asking for your help.

"We’re offering a reward (of up to $1200) for information leading to the identification and the arrest of the person or persons who might have done this," Sheriff Akin says.

If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers of Wise County at 940-627-TIPS (8477) or 800-643-TIPS (8477).

You can also send in your tip electronically at or by texting "WISETIP" plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
