DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - On the heels of Globe Life Field and Texas Live!, another world-class venue is coming in Arlington.

The Arlington Convention Center is being repurposed as Esports Stadium.

“Over the next few months, this facility will be transformed into an innovative, high-tech gaming stadium with a 100-thousand -square-foot space, stage for gaming competitions and seating for hundreds to watch tournaments live,” says Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams. “It will also have VIP hospitality, a broadcast studio and a team training area.”

Neil Leibman, The co-owner of Infinite ESports and Entertainment and OpTic Gaming says the new venue will be the largest of its kind in the nation. “This is going to be a great place for gamers to enjoy paradise,” he says.

And Ken Hersh, the co-owner of Envy Gaming, says the stadium will be for all to use. “From the casual player to the person who’s very sophisticated, there’s something for everyone,” says Hersh.

Jonathon Oudthone, the president of NGAGE ESports, says ESports Stadium will serve the gaming community very well.

“This flexibility makes the Esports Stadium truly remarkable and gives it the ability to get it to a wide variety of audiences and event types,” says Oudthone.

The repurposed facility will continue to accommodate meetings and conventions.

The renovation is expected to be completed this fall.
