KELLER (KRLD) - Keller High School has extra security on campus today following threats about violence at today's planned student walkout.

Students are being asked not to participate and the threats led Keller ISD to cancel a pep rally yesterday.

Still, many students across North Texas refuse to be intimidated.

They say they don't want to live in fear of not making it to graduation, and they want their voices to be heard. Walkouts were planned for this day to mark 19 years since the massacre at Columbine High School in Colorado.

More than two dozen deadly school shootings have happened since, including the most recent one in Florida. North Texas school districts say anyone who does walk out risks disciplinary action.

Mansfield ISD says students who walk out will get an unexcused absence, but discipline varies between districts. Many of these walkouts are planned for around 10 a.m. this morning.
