GARLAND (1080 KRLD) - Garland police say they have referred the case of a road rage shooting last week to a grand jury. They say Francisco Pasillas, 33, was driving down Centerville Road last Thursday afternoon.

Police say Pasillas and another driver started cutting each other off. The other driver started shooting at Pasillas' car. Pasillas was hit. He pulled over and died at the hospital.

"Someone could come down and shut down his life that easy," says Pasillas' brother-in-law, Fernando Espinoza. "So senseless. In the blink of an eye, he's gone."

Pasillas' wife was riding in the car, but she was not hurt.

Monday, his friends and family held a vigil at the site of the shooting. They also staged a protest outside the Garland Police Department and are asking for a meeting with the police chief.

"We're just hoping we can get this guy out of the streets because my brother needs justice," says Pasillas' sister, Anabel Farias.

Garland police say the other driver turned himself in. They say they have interviewed everyone involved and witnesses. Police say their investigation showed the best course of action was to refer the case to a grand jury to make a decision on whether the other driver should be charged.
