FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - The Fort Worth City Council just voted to adopt Mayor Betsy Price’s 6th Declaration of a Public Health Emergency Disaster.

"We had a stay at home declaration already, we just amended a few things on it,"  Mayor Price said, adding that the changes put the new declaration more in line with the governor.

The order redefines essential business qualifications, puts new regulations on city parks and extends the city's shelter in place order through the end of April.

"When we started the stay at home order, there were a lot of people who weren't paying attention to it," Price said. " ... I'm seeing much better compliance now than we did, even a week ago."

Price says an outline of the declaration and a list of essential businesses can be found on the city's website.

Fort Worth's decision to extend the disaster declaration came right before Tarrant County's 19th reported death from the coronavirus. Officials say the man was in his 30s and had underlying health conditions.
