GARLAND (1080 KRLD) - There's widespread damage in Garland, where a one mile stretch of Shiloh Road is shut down because of debris and downed power lines.

The city of Garland says the main damage in the city is north of I-635, and the area will be closed for some time.

The city is planning to pick up debris today, and building inspectors are out assessing damage.

Ray Leszcynski with the city says the neighborhoods are 50 years or older with lots of established trees, and Garland Power and Light crews continue to make progress.

A new and unoccupied warehouse on Shiloh Road appeared to take a direct hit. There are pieces of corrugated metal along Robin Lane from the warehouse and huge tree limbs on houses.

Shiloh is covered with downed power lines from a bent-over high tension power pole.
